Experts in British baking techniques and the production of artisan baked goods, Bread Ahead boasts two London based teaching spaces and three eateries.
Founded in 2013 by Matthew Jones, a passionate foodie, baker and Londoner with over 25 years’ experience in baking, Bread Ahead began life in Borough Market where he focused on supplying fresh produce daily to the market’s customers and a range of local restaurants and delis. Having honed his craft working alongside well-known names such as Shaun Hill, Simon Hopkinson and John Torode in restaurants including Bibendum, Pont de la Tour, Quaglino’s and Mezzo, as well as owning and running the successful Flour Power City Bakery in Hoxton, Jones realised the public wanted more than just to buy an outstanding loaf of bread. Jones found himself, daily, sharing recipes and tips, and showing members of the public around the bakery, giving them an insight into the life of a baker. The seed was sown and in early 2014 Bread Ahead’s Bakery School opened its doors to show the public just how easy baking good bread can be.
Since launch in 2013, Bread Ahead has expanded to include a second bakery and school in Pavilion Road, Chelsea and a brand-new bakery and café in Beak Street, Soho. The Bread Ahead Baking School calendar includes popular workshops, including doughnut and sourdough sessions, as well as more specialist classes such as introductions to English, Nordic and gluten-free baking. Led by Bread Ahead’s masterful bakery school tutors, each workshop offers an insight into proper artisan baking.
Heading into the festive period, The Bread Ahead Baking Schools, located in Borough Market and on Pavilion Road, Chelsea, are now taking bookings for Christmas workshops including introductions to:

Gift vouchers are available to buy for the half and full day workshops all year round, priced at £90 and £180 respectively.
