Lima Floral to launch The Lost Alpaca bar in Covent Garden

Lima Floral to launch The Lost Alpaca bar in Covent Garden

On 28th June 2018, Lima Floral will be re-launching its bar with a new name and menu to match. The Lost Alpaca Bar will serve a range of cocktails that showcase the flavour profile of Latin America through speciality spirits that best represent the different countries. The 30-cover basement venue will be the perfect setting in which to relax and enjoy an innovative cocktail menu, Peruvian bar snacks, and an easy-going vibe accompanied by Latin American soundtracks. Whilst upstairs in the restaurant a new sharing menu will be available from recently appointed Head Chef, Patricia Roig.

From Mexico’s mezcal and tequilas all the way down to Brazil’s cachaça and Venezuela’s award- winning rums, The Lost Alpaca will bring Latin America flair and fun to Covent Garden with an inventive cocktail menu. The national cocktail of Peru, The Classic Pisco Sour, a smooth and refreshing short drink bursting with citrus flavours, is not to be missed. Other highlights include The Palo Santo Vibe (Palo Santo smoked Pisco, tobacco liqueur, mint, chicha morada syrup and ginger beer) and the Brazilian inspired Alpaca Punch (Cachaça, Dark Rum, Cherimoya, Guava, and Lucuma finished with a touch of prosecco). A bar snack menu will also be on offer for those looking for a light bite with their cocktails.

The Lost Alpaca has also undergone a refurbishment with retro wording printed on distressed brick walls and a newly designed bar counter, carved from reclaimed timber.

The Lima team have partnered with Cool Earth, a charity organisation that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and climate change. More information on the collaboration and their exciting plans will be announced in the coming months.

Co-Founder Gabriel Gonzalez commented, “We wanted to launch The Lost Alpaca to showcase the best spirits and mixology that Latin America has to offer. We hope to leverage the continent’s association with fun to create an exciting and atmospheric bar serving high-quality food and drink in Covent Garden. The area is rapidly becoming a must-visit dining destination in Central London, with a variety of new restaurant openings in the area, but we felt that the neighbourhood had fallen short of good quality cocktail bars.”

Meanwhile upstairs, Head Chef Patricia Roig will be focusing on the restaurants traditional flavours with a new menu inspired by her recent trip to Peru. The offering will encourage a relaxed and informal style of dining, designed for guests to share dishes. Diners can order several of the small plates available to experience the different flavour combinations and textures that Peruvian gastronomy has to offer. Some of Roig’s favourites include the Hot Salmon Ceviche served with a corn tostada and langoustine broth; Duck tiradito with purple corn chips and Nikkei salsa and the Suckling pig with celeriac puree which will be available for guests to share. Other new additions include Yuca fries served with a yellow aji pepper and goat’s cheese salsa; Plantain crisps with avocado and coriander cream as well as Beef empanadas with huancaina (a traditional spicy cheese sauce).

The Lost Alpaca Bar and new menu at Lima Floral will be launching on 28th June 2018, offering a fun and vibrant destination in the foodie hub that Covent Garden is rapidly becoming.
