Go Green with The Rubens At The Palace, London

Living Wall Go Green with The Rubens At The Palace, London

Press Release
London, XX June 2018

The newly refurbished Rubens at the Palace has launched a new Go Green hotel experience, encouraging guests to make their stay healthier and more environmentally friendly. The package includes a vegan afternoon tea, the chance to learn more about The Rubens’ innovative Living Wall, an outdoor exercise session and even offers a discount if guests opt to use a Santander bicycle during their stay. The Go Green package, which is part of The Rubens’ wider sustainability policy, is available to book now and a great way to respect the environment while experiencing a luxurious hotel stay.

The Rubens at The Palace is part of Red Carnation Hotels, a family run company with a proven commitment to sustainability. Considered one of the most ‘green’ hotels across the collection, The Rubens has an internal Corporate Social Responsibility Team which implements methods to minimise the hotel’s impact on the environment. This includes everything from sourcing energy efficient light bulbs to recycling candles, soaps and shampoos, and the elimination of single use plastics, part of the hotel collection’s Multi-Year Plastics Elimination Strategy. Part of the TTC portfolio of brands, Red Carnation Hotels works in collaboration with its not-for-profit Treadright Foundation to research and successfully implement these green initiatives throughout the hotels and the wider travel company.

The Rubens also has a striking Living Wall, standing at 350 square metres and with 10,000 herbaceous plants, providing a wildlife habitat, improving the air quality of surrounding Victoria and acting as natural insulation for the building.

Go Green is designed to promote ways guests can make their stay both healthier and more environmentally friendly. Upon arrival guests will find out more about the Living Wall with a CSR Team member and learn about how living walls can contribute to protecting the environment. During their stay guests are encouraged to explore London using a Santander bicycle to minimise pollution and will even have five pounds removed from their bill on checkout if they do.

Go Green also includes a delicious vegan afternoon tea, a new addition to the hotel’s offering and a great way to enjoy a traditional treat without the need for meat, dairy and eggs. Including a selection of vegan sandwiches such as wild mushroom and avocado and rocket, traditional plain and chocolate chip scones with strawberry jam and vegan butter, there are also mouth-watering cakes to try including The Rubens’ royal chocolate cake, zesty lemon and ginger bar and English rose macaroons.

Go Green also includes the opportunity to join a member of the CSR Team for an outdoor walking or jogging session. And on check out, the guest’s invoice will be emailed rather than printed as the hotel strives to cut down on paper waste.

Malcolm Hendry, General Manager of The Rubens at the Palace, said:

“Our new Go Green experience is the perfect way for guests to play an active part in some of our CSR initiatives, whilst enjoying a luxurious stay at The Rubens. We strive every day to minimise our impact on the environment without compromising on quality or service, and we’re excited that Go Green puts this commitment front and centre of the guest experience.”

The Go Green package at The Rubens at The Palace is available from £369 per night, based on two adults sharing a Classic Double room and including full breakfast (the hotel also has a vegan breakfast option). The package also includes a specially designed Starlight cocktail on arrival, with £1 from every cocktail purchased at the hotel donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Bookings must be made seven days prior to arrival and outdoor exercise sessions confirmed ahead of the stay.
