This week we lost the much-loved fellow foodie, Wilkes McDermid. Many of the team here at Sauce had gotten to know Wilkes over the years over a shared love of food.
We were deeply saddened by the news of his death, and as such wanted to make a small tribute to him in our weekly blog post.
We’ve picked out some of our favourite photos of his, and will fondly remember Wilkes as an always enthusiastic, fantastic photographer, blogger and person.
And our absolute favourite isn’t of a great shot of a barman shaking up a cocktail, or of cheese oozing out of a burger, but of a chip bag over his camera…
Hazel explains “As we know Wilkes was a great photographer and always on hand with the latest gadgets at our events. Once, when we were at Dirty Bones (notoriously difficult lighting for photos) Wilkes whipped out this table top camera light however it was too bright for the photos. Thinking on his feet he used the paper packet from his chips to create a dimmed lighting effect resulting in fabulous pictures…”
