Peruvian Coffee Cocktail at LIMA Fitzrovia and LIMA Floral
To celebrate National Coffee Week, Michelin-starred restaurant, LIMA Fitzrovia, and sister restaurant, LIMA Floral, will be offering a coffee-based cocktail with a Peruvian twist from 7th-17th April. Made using Lucuma, a traditional Andean fruit with a creamy texture that pairs perfectly with coffee and Peruvian rum, ‘Lucuma Kawji’ derives its name from the Quechua word for coffee, for a cocktail evocative of the restaurant’s Latin American roots. ‘Breakfast at Harry’s at City Social
To celebrate this year’s National Coffee Week, guests at Jason Atherton’s City Social can enjoy coffee-based cocktail ‘Breakfast at Harry’s against the stunning backdrop of the London skyline. A mix of Glenfiddich 15yr, coffee maraschino, Cocchi Torino, liquorice bitters and a ‘cigar’, the cocktail provides a grown up take on the classic breakfast drink to be enjoyed into the early hours.
Salt Yard Coffee
The award-winning Salt Yard Group restaurants offer a unique Italian blend coffee that is served exclusively in the Salt Yard, Ember Yard, Dehesa, and Opera Tavern restaurants. The blend has been developed with the Algerian Coffee Store in Soho, a family run shop established in 1887, and is made using milk from the Soho Dairy. The blend makes the perfect coffee to conclude a meal of delicious Italian and Spanish tapas from the Salt Yard Group restaurants, and is also served alongside the newly launched breakfast menus at Ember Yard and Dehesa.
‘Cold Fashioned’ at Social Wine & Tapas
To celebrate this year’s National Coffee Week, Jason Atherton’s Social Wine & Tapas will be offering an Old Fashioned with a caffeinated twist. ‘Cold Fashioned’ cocktail is a complex mix of Clement Rhum Ambre and a coffee infusion, for a refreshing take on this classic cocktail.
Pollen Street Social’s ‘Turkish Fortune’
To mark this year’s National Coffee Week, Jason Atherton’s Pollen Street Social will be offering guests the chance to try ‘Turkish Fortune’. Offering a blend of Bulleit Bourbon, Italian Amari and tonka with El Salvador espresso for a coffee kick, the cocktail is served in a traditional Turkish coffee pot before being decanted into a classic coupé glass and offers a complex combination of complimentary flavours.
Jet black ‘Alien Jones’ at Sosharu
For a Coffee Week cocktail with a Japanese twist, Jason Atherton’s newest venture, Sosharu, will be mixing up coffee-infused Cocchi Americano, lemon and egg white with bamboo charcoal to create ‘Alien Jones’. Jet black in colour, the cocktail packs a punch both in appearance and flavour.
Irish Coffee Sundae indulgence at Social Eating House
This Coffee Week, Jason Atherton’s Social Eating House will be treating the child inside each guest to an ‘Irish Coffee Sunday’. Moist Guinness cake is layered with a coffee and Jameson-infused jelly and white chocolate and coffee ice cream and finished off with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles for a Michelin-starred sundae with a coffee hit.
‘Kaffee & Kuchen’ at German Gymnasium
This Coffee Week, German Gymnasium will be the perfect spot to enjoy a slice of cake with a coffee with a mittel-European twist. Offering a selection of cakes designed to perfectly complement coffee, including Gugelhupf, a bundt cake originating from Southern Germany, and Sachertorte, a rich, Viennese chocolate cake, ‘Kaffee & Kuchen’ begins with the chime of a clock at 4pm daily to mark the start of this German tradition.
Espresso Gelato by Remeo
Enjoy a refreshingly energising coffee flavoured gelato for Coffee Week. Remeo is the first authentic artisanal “ice-cream” in a jar, bringing Italian tradition to the everyday day life. As the days get warmer, these non-artificial, high quality products will be real treat.
Ahead of coffee week, for the best affagato in town it has to be Arabica Bar & Kitchen, Borough Market! This dessert dish is made using Turkish coffee steeped in cardamom, served with halva ice cream for a delicious end to your meal.
Raw Coffee Nut Brownie from CRU Kafe
INGREDIENTS – BROWNIE
100g ground almonds
5 tbsp cacao
1 tbsp maple syrup
pinch of salt
50g hazelnuts (for texture)
50g macadamia nuts (for texture) 2 shots of Intense CRU espresso
200g chocolate chips 350g rm tofu
2 tbsp coconut oil
4 tbsp Kahlua
1 tbsp vanilla pod
sprinkle of crushed macadamia & hazelnut
Blitz the 200g hazelnuts, with the ground almonds, dates, cacao, maple syrup and salt. Once blitzed into a chunky paste add the remaining hazelnuts and macadamia nuts and blitz until chunky and incorporated. Note: Keep 3 of each nut back to crush and garnish with later.
Line a baking tin with parchment paper, then place in the fridge to set.
Place the tofu, Kahlua, coconut oil and vanilla into a blender. Melt the chocolate and then add it into these ingredients and blitz.
Place the frosting on the brownies and return to the fridge. Portion and then garnish with the remaining nuts.
