Massimo Bottura opened Osteria Francescana in Modena in 1995. An innovator and restaurateur for over twenty years, Bottura has consolidated his reputation as one of the world’s most creative culinary figures. His internationally renowned three Michelin star restaurant, Osteria Francescana, was named number 1 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2016 and for a second time in 2018. Bottura’s equally stunning second restaurant, Franceschetta58, is a contemporary Osteria in his home town. He has recently opened Gucci Osteria inside the freshly opened Gucci Garden Galleria in Florence.
In 2017, Bottura released his latest cookbook, Bread Is Gold, based on his non-profit association Food for Soul. Bottura founded Food for Soul following the success of Refettorio Ambrosiano in Milan during Expo 2015, when over sixty chefs from around the world joined him to cook for the homeless. Bottura & friends’ goal is to reduce food waste and turn everyday ingredients into inspiring dishes. Refettorio Gastromotiva opened in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, alongside David Hertz’ non-profit culinary school Gastromotiva, and Refettorio Felix opened in London in 2017, in partnership with food charity, The Felix Project. Food for Soul now has a new project in France Refettorio Paris and more are due to follow around the globe. Additionally, Massimo Bottura has starred in several television series over the years.
Massimo Bottura is soon to launch Torno Subito at the new W hotel in Dubai and at some point in 2019 (date to be confirmed) Bottura and his wife-business partner Lara Gilmore will reveal a stunning property Villa Maria Luiga in the countryside outside of Modena where these masters of design, relaxation and luxury will open the ultimate bed and breakfast.
