The Locals’ Kitchen: Sri Lanka
First published in 2015, The Locals’ Kitchen: Sri Lanka, is the first in a series of travel documentary style cookbooks by author, photographer and chef, Jon Lewin, who was present for the devastating tsunami on Boxing Day 2014. Surviving this harrowing experience with the help and compassion of the Sri Lankan people, Jon, who previously trained at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, forged a life-long bond with this island nation in the Indian Ocean, creating The Locals’ Kitchen: Sri Lanka. The recipe book combines authentic local recipes, travel, photography and informative first-hand accounts of Jon’s life, immersed in this truly fascinating culture. In 2017, The Locals Kitchen: Sri Lanka won in several categories at the World Gourmand Cookbook Awards. In this second, reimagined edition, Jon has included over 15 new recipes, helpful sections on equipment, conversion charts, spice ratings and a legend to navigate dietary requirements, in addition to a wealth of new photography from his travels.
