There is something about hotel bars that folk either love or hate.  Being an avid traveller however, I always feel a rush of excitement stepping inside a hotel where I can unwind and welcome an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Located on the first floor of the grand Park Plaza Hotel Westminster, Primo Bar is an impressive bar inside an impressive building with breathtaking views of the houses of Parliament and Westminster Bridge. A decadent yet comfortable space, Primo Bar is a far cry from some lifeless hotel bars found around the city. Plush sofas, low candle lit tables as well as a large central bar evokes a sultry indulgant feel where you would want to put your high heels on and be seen! No opportunity could therefore be better than Ladies Night; taking place every first Thursday of the month, it is time to get your girlfriends together, let your hair down and join in for a night of exquisite cocktails, entertainment and even a little bit of retail therapy!

Having never been to a ‘ladies only evening’, I was unsure of what to expect. Nevertheless the atmosphere was buzzing and the staff welcoming and inviting. Running from 6-9pm, evenings are run under different themes every month. Loving all things sparkly, I attended the ‘Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend’ event. The evening presents a lot more than an excuse to catch up with friends and make new ones; beautifully designed jewellery by local boutiques such as Stella & Dot was displayed and available to buy throughout the night, whilst Body Shop products and complimentary hand treatments courtesy of Park Plaza’s Mandara Spa helped everyone relax after a hard day’s work.  Inspirational speakers provided food for thought and live music entertained; completing a perfect girly evening. Because we all love a cocktail, Ladies Night offers delicious ones at a snippet of the price, with a special menu including my favourite, Ros’ly (Lychee + Champagne + rose liqueur) at only £4. And making sure you make a night of it snacks and light bites are also available in case you get peckish; I recommend the Buffalo Mozzarella salad and the Chicken Fajitas, they both hit the spot perfectly accompanied with those delicious drinks.

If your man is itching to join you for a drink, invite him along as the evening carries on with live music well after 9pm. As well as Ladies’ Night, different events run throughout the week with music every night. Events are generally popular and booking is recommended,

Westminster may not be the natural choice for a great evening in London, but Primo Bar puts the area firmly on the map and should definitely make your little black book.
